N A N U K Shawl Kit

includes the written pattern for Nanuk and 4 skeins of B A B E : D K

Nanuk Means Polar Bear is a soft and squishy shawl that begins with easy garter stitch and then teaches you how to knit a Bloom-designed bobble on a knit/slip garter background. Easy to understand instructions are given for the sweet picot bind off as well. Wear it as a shawl, or wrap closer to your neck for extra polar-bear style warmth. This kit includes 4 skeins of Bloom’s DK weight 100% lambswool yarn Babe and alternates between the rich natural cream and hand-dyed shades, choose Sage Grey, Rose Gold or varigated Smoke, a soft blue-grey. Nanuk Means Polar Bear is a great way to immerse yourself in soft, small batch farm yarn.

About the Yarn: For this batch of Babe, we collected lamb's wool and other soft fleeces from Leyden Glen, a beautiful family farm in the northern hills of the Western MA Fibershed.  The farm's mission is to produce delicious high-quality lamb....an endeavor that is more than a full-time job.  We are happy to be invited to the annual shearing day where Lisa selects fleeces that will make soft yarn, while also collecting courser fleeces to use in other products such as our Wool Sponges and Wooly-Fill.   Babe is a warm, bouncy yarn from prancing Romney-cross lambs that becomes even softer once you knit with it!
